Letting Go…
Stepping into the Autumn Season with Renewed Passion
The photoperiod plants outside are almost ready for harvest. We have been blessed with dry weather here in Connecticut, but each passing thunderstorm threatens to break branches and create mold. I have been endlessly busy shoring up branches, clipping away any traces of rot and keeping the big fat buds from bending under their own weight. Always anxious to chop, the goal is to make it to October (Choptober) for as many days or weeks as you can. Patience will pay off in voluptuous buds with a headier high. As long as the dry weather follows a rainy day, I think I can make it. I have some beautiful strains all at their peak. After a chop and dry, they will need to cure. They should be smokable and ready for edibles by mid October.
Maui Wowie, California Dream, Northern Lights, White Widow, Blue Dream, and Sour Diesel will be on tap! These are the last of Jay’s final grow. He planted most of these seeds himself. I nurtured them with all the love and care I could muster, all the while grieving the loss of my beloved partner. He would be so proud to see how far we have come. And if I made mistakes along the way, I can hear his voice in my head saying: “It’s all about learning.” So I keep going and keep getting better at this every day. This harvest is one I will be very proud of. I look forward to enjoying and sharing it as soon as it’s ready - PATIENCE!
